New Endodontics Exhibit at Glasgow Science Center Offers Hands

by Mary

Visitors to the Glasgow Science Center can now explore a new, interactive exhibit focused on endodontics, the branch of dentistry partnership that deals with the inside of the tooth. The exhibit, titled At the Root of It, was created in with the British Endodontic Society (BES) and the University of Glasgow Dental School. It opened in September and aims to educate the public about tooth anatomy and the role of oral biofilms in oral diseases, including endodontic diseases.

The At the Root of It exhibit is housed within an immersive research capsule. It features several hands-on displays, such as a dentist simulator, a giant model of a tooth, and an interactive touchscreen. These elements allow visitors to engage with the science of endodontics in a fun and educational way.

This exhibit also coincides with the 14th World Endodontic Congress, taking place at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow. As a permanent addition to the Glasgow Science Center, the exhibit will serve as a lasting legacy of the Congress in the city.

The exhibition can be found in the Bodyworks gallery on the third floor of the Glasgow Science Center.

Professor William McLean, President of the British Endodontic Society and Professor of Endodontology at the University of Glasgow Dental School, spoke about the importance of the exhibit. “The new exhibit will give visitors a chance to learn about root canal disease and its effects on both oral and overall health,” he said.

He continued, “As part of the interactive experience, visitors will also discover how dental professionals play a key role in maintaining oral health, or helping patients recover if disease occurs. The exhibit covers essential biology, material innovations, and clinical practices that help improve patient care and outcomes.”

Professor McLean expressed pride in the collaboration between the University of Glasgow Dental School, the British Endodontic Society, and the Glasgow Science Center. “It’s exciting to showcase the important work being done here in Glasgow,” he said. “The University of Glasgow Dental School has made significant strides in improving our understanding of oral diseases and helping to improve oral health across the nation.”

With its engaging format and educational content, At the Root of It offers a valuable learning experience for both the general public and those interested in the field of endodontics.
