Waking Up at 7 a.m. Daily is Essential for Healthy Teeth, Says Dentist

by Mary

A dental expert has emphasized the importance of waking up at 7 a.m. for optimal oral health. Dr. Zaeem from Ordo explains that while many people brush their teeth upon waking and before bed, there is an ideal time for brushing that can significantly impact dental health.

According to Dr. Zaeem, brushing at 7:15 a.m. is particularly beneficial.

He notes that during sleep, bacteria in the mouth multiply, leading to morning breath and plaque buildup. “Brushing your teeth shortly after waking helps eliminate these bacteria,” he said. The dentist advises against sleeping in too late, as it allows more time for harmful bacteria to thrive.

Brushing your teeth first thing in the morning not only cleans away bacteria but also creates a protective barrier against acids from food throughout the day. Dr. Zaeem recommends brushing before breakfast to kickstart saliva production, which aids in breaking down food and combating harmful bacteria.

He cautions against brushing immediately after eating breakfast, especially after consuming acidic foods like orange juice and cereals, as this can weaken tooth enamel further.

In addition to morning brushing, Dr. Zaeem stresses the importance of brushing at night, ideally just before going to bed.

He advises avoiding food or drink—except water—after this final brush to maintain oral hygiene overnight.

By following these guidelines, individuals can significantly improve their dental health and reduce the risk of cavities and other dental issues.
