Lahore: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently conducted a one-day workshop on dental implants as a component of the 16th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD).
Renowned dentist Prof. Dr. Amin-ur-Rahman, affiliated with the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, led the workshop.
The session began with an overview of implant statistics and historical context. Dr. Amin discussed topics such as alveolar bone structure, its relationship to teeth and implants, and various types of implants including tissue-level and bone-level options.
Participants received guidance on surgical procedures, emphasizing effective communication and meticulous planning for successful implant treatments.
Interactive discussions covered topics like single-tooth and multiple-tooth replacements, as well as cemented screw-retained prostheses and the prevention of implant failures.
During the hands-on segment, attendees practiced on typodont models under the supervision of Dr. Amin and his team, receiving immediate feedback and assistance.
The workshop concluded with positive feedback from participants, highlighting its practical value in enhancing their skills and knowledge in dental implantology.
