LAHORE: The Institute of Advanced Dental Sciences and Research (IADSR) recently held a two-day workshop on “Restoration of Endodontically Treated Teeth” as part of its 16th Professional Diploma in Advanced General Dentistry (PDAGD) programme.
The workshop, led by Dr. Salman Ashraf Khan, BDS, FRACDS (Australia), who is the Head of the Department and Assistant Professor at the University of Lahore, focused on key techniques for Class IV restorations and diastema closure. The sessions emphasized achieving high aesthetic standards using minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Khan discussed the advantages of using direct adhesive composite resin restorations, which require less tooth reduction.
He provided detailed instruction on shade selection, color mapping, and various tooth preparation methods.
A significant aspect of the workshop was dental photography, where Dr. Khan demonstrated how it can enhance clinical outcomes. Participants were trained in composite layering techniques and addressed challenges like peg lateral teeth, as well as mastering shaping, contouring, and polishing methods.
The event also included case study reviews, allowing participants to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and engage in hands-on procedures.
During practical exercises, Dr. Khan engaged with participants, addressing their questions and discussing common challenges in clinical practice.
