FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Enrolled members of the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) will see a reduction in their monthly premiums starting November 1, 2024. These new rates will remain in effect until February 28, 2025.
“TDP premium rates change periodically,” said Douglas Elsesser, a program analyst with the Dental Program Section of the TRICARE Health Plan at the Defense Health Agency. “This helps premiums stay current with the market while maintaining affordable coverage for you and your family.”
The TDP is a voluntary dental plan available to active duty family members, as well as National Guard and Reserve members and their families. The program is administered by United Concordia and offers coverage both in the continental United States (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS).
It is important to note that dental coverage is separate from TRICARE medical coverage. Members must enroll in the TDP to receive benefits. Additionally, sponsors must have at least 12 months of military service remaining to qualify for enrollment, as outlined in the TRICARE Dental Program Handbook.
Premiums vary based on the sponsor’s status—whether they are active duty, Selected Reserve, or Individual Ready Reserve—and the type of enrollment selected:
Sponsor Only
Single: One family member, excluding the sponsor
Family: More than one family member, excluding the sponsor
Sponsor and Family: This option applies only to Selected Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve members
The new premiums will take effect from November 1, 2024, through February 28, 2025.
