St. Apollonia Dental Clinic has announced the hiring of Dr. Ogo Olele, a board-certified pediatric dentist, who will join the clinic’s team in January 2025. The announcement was made by Julie Tucci, the clinic’s executive director, and Dr. Norma Desjardins, the clinic’s founder.
Dr. Olele, affectionately known as Dr. O, grew up in Southern California and has recently worked in Virginia. Her passion for dentistry began in Los Angeles, where she engaged in volunteer work and mentorship programs. Inspired by her own dental experiences, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry to improve oral health care for children.
After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Dr. Olele completed her pediatric dentistry training at the same institution. As a pediatric dentist, she focuses on making dental visits enjoyable for her young patients. Dr. O aims to create a welcoming environment where children can learn about good oral hygiene while feeling comfortable during their appointments. She believes that fostering positive dental experiences can help children develop lifelong healthy habits.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Olele enjoys organizing events, decorating, baking, traveling, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Dr. Desjardins expressed enthusiasm about Dr. Olele’s arrival, noting the challenges of referring patients to specialists in Maine and other states. She stated that having a pediatric dentist on staff will greatly benefit St. Apollonia’s patients. Dr. Olele will accept referrals from other dental offices and plans to collaborate with specialists to ensure comprehensive oral health care for children.
Tucci also highlighted the importance of having a full-time pediatric dentist at the clinic after relying on temporary dentists in recent months. She emphasized that Dr. Olele’s leadership will help fulfill their mission of providing compassionate dental care to every child in Aroostook County.
The St. Apollonia Dental Clinic is committed to being a comprehensive dental home for all children aged 0 to 20 years old, ensuring they receive high-quality care in a supportive environment. The team looks forward to introducing Dr. Olele to both patients and local dentists as she begins her new role next year.
